Terms of Use
Effective date: March 20, 2026 | Last updated: November 1, 2026
This is an English translation of the French Conditions d’utilisation. In case of any difference, the French version prevails (section 19).
1. Acceptance of the Terms
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Unii (“Unii”, “we”, “us”) that governs your use of the Unii mobile app (iOS and Android), the unii.ca website, including pre-registration, and related services (together, the “Service”). The Service is operated by Unii’s co-founders, Benjamin Archambault and David Bérubé, pending the incorporation of a company.
By creating an account or a pre-registration, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information; it is presented to you separately, and your consents are requested separately. If you do not accept the Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
To use the Service, you must:
- be 18 years of age or older;
- be single and free to enter into a relationship;
- be part of the Christian community, of any Christian denomination (Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox or other);
- provide accurate and up-to-date information;
- not have been previously excluded from the Service.
Unii is a space for Christian singles who want to meet people who share their faith. We may suspend or delete an account if the person does not meet these requirements or has provided false or misleading information.
3. Account and security
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for any activity carried out with your account. You agree to:
- have only one personal account;
- not share your account or impersonate another person;
- notify us without delay of any unauthorized use, at info@unii.ca.
Your profile is displayed under a pseudonym and shows your city, never your precise location.
4. Pre-registration on unii.ca
Before the app opens, you can create a pre-registration on unii.ca. It is not visible to any other member. When the app opens, it becomes your Unii account and these Terms apply in full. You can delete your pre-registration at any time on unii.ca.
5. Plans, offers and payments
5.1 Plans
The Service offers a free tier and paid plans.
- Free: profile feed, filters, compatibility score, replies to people who write to you, 3 new people contacted per month and 1 event registration per month.
- Subscriber: unlimited new conversations and event registrations, event creation and additional notifications. Prices: $14.99 for 1 month, $39.99 for 3 months, $69.99 for 6 months.
Free-tier limits are calculated per calendar month and reset on the 1st of each month at midnight (Eastern Time). Organizations approved as organizers use the Service free of charge. Prices are in Canadian dollars, plus applicable taxes. The exact price and content of each plan are always displayed before purchase.
5.2 Promotional offers
A promotional offer (e.g., free months of subscription tied to a code or a link) is granted according to the conditions announced with the offer, once per person. It has no cash value and cannot be sold or transferred. Offers tied to a pre-registration are granted when the app opens.
5.3 Payment
Payments are made through in-app purchases on Apple’s App Store or Google Play, which act as the merchants. Subscription management is provided by RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your credit card information. Your purchase is also subject to the terms of the store you use.
5.4 Automatic renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the price then in effect, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
5.5 Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period, and you keep access until that date. Deleting your Unii account does not cancel your subscription: cancel it in the store first. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their policies, subject to your rights under Québec’s Consumer Protection Act.
5.6 Price changes
We may change our prices. A new price applies only to the billing period following the notice you receive, and you may cancel before it takes effect.
6. Rules of conduct
To keep Unii safe and respectful, you agree not to:
- harass, intimidate, threaten or insult anyone, or persist after a refusal;
- create a fake profile, use another person’s photos, or lie about your identity, age or marital status;
- post sexually explicit, hateful, violent, defamatory or illegal content;
- ask for money or financial information, sell products or services, or recruit;
- collect, copy or share other members’ information (including by screenshot) without their consent;
- use the Service for fraudulent or illegal purposes;
- circumvent or disrupt the Service’s security measures, or access it by automated means.
These rules also apply in event groups and at events.
7. Reporting, blocking and moderation
You can report a profile, a message or an event, and block a person: they then disappear from your feed and conversations, and you from theirs. We review reports and may remove content, issue a warning, or suspend or delete an account. To handle a report, the people responsible for moderation may view the reported content.
8. Events
Subscribed members and approved organizers can create events. Events are published without prior review by Unii, but they can be reported and removed.
- The person or organization that creates an event is responsible for it: accuracy of the description, choice of an appropriate venue, and compliance with the law and the venue’s rules.
- The exact address is shared only with registered participants. Do not share it further.
- Unii does not organize these events, is not present at them and does not guarantee how they unfold.
9. Safety and meeting in person
Unii is a platform for connecting people. We do not conduct background checks on members and cannot guarantee their identity, intentions or conduct. Be careful: meet in a public place first, tell someone close to you where you are going, and never send money or financial information. Report any concerning behaviour in the app or at info@unii.ca. In an emergency, call 911.
10. Your content
You remain the owner of the content you post (photos, text, messages). You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, limited to the time it is posted, to host it and display it to other members, solely to provide the Service. We do not use your photos or profile in our advertising without your written consent.
You confirm that you hold the necessary rights to what you post, including the consent of any people who appear in your photos.
11. Unii’s intellectual property
The Service, its interface, name, logo and code belong to Unii or its licensors. You may use the Service only in accordance with these Terms.
12. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party services, including Apple and Google (app stores, sign-in, Firebase, city selection), RevenueCat and Netlify. Their use is also subject to their own terms. The list of providers that process your information is in our Privacy Policy.
13. Service availability
We make reasonable efforts to keep the Service running well, but it may be interrupted for maintenance or because of technical problems. We do not guarantee that it will allow you to find a relationship.
14. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Unii is not liable for indirect damages arising from your use of the Service, or for the conduct of other members, online or in person. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, the Civil Code of Québec or any other law of public order, or our liability for our own fault.
15. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close your account if you breach these Terms or to protect the safety of the community. Except in an emergency or where others are at risk, we will tell you why. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
16. Deleting your account
You can delete your account or pre-registration at any time:
- In the app: Settings > Account > Delete my account;
- On the web: unii.ca/en/delete-account (pre-registration: immediate deletion from the home page);
- By email: info@unii.ca.
What is deleted, and the timelines, are described in the Privacy Policy.
17. Changes to the Terms
We may change these Terms. For any significant change, we will notify you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. The notice will set out the new or amended clause and the date it takes effect. If you refuse the change, you may terminate at no cost by deleting your account and cancelling your subscription before that date.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Québec and the applicable federal laws of Canada. You may bring a claim before the competent court in the place where you live, as the law provides for consumers.
19. Language
These Terms are written in French. An English translation is provided; in case of any difference, the French version prevails.
